Announcement for Research Opportunities using Short Term Bed Rest as a Tool for Countermeasures Validation and Fundamental Research Introduction
As earlier announced, in last year's Bed Rest Study announcement, ref. ESA-AO-LS-99-BR ESA is planning to perform additional ground studies, whilst waiting for The International Space Station to become fully operational. The first initiative in 1999 was taken via the Announcement of Opportunity (AO), inviting submission of experiment proposals for a 90 day bed rest study. The review of proposals submitted in response to the ESA-AO-LS-99-BR (long term) stimulated a logical separation of proposals, in those definitely needing long term studies, and those, which would be better served via a shorter term study. Short- and long term simulation studies offer different qualities. Short term studies are well suited for testing scientific hypotheses, which relative to countermeasures offer a complementary approach to the earlier announced long term study.
An opportunity is hereby offered to submit experiment proposals for the "Short Term Bed Rest Study - 2000". |
